30-45+ Inter Provincial - Port Elizabeth - 03-07 May 2010

60 teams, 10 tennis clubs, 328 players and 2952 tennis balls is what it took to host the 35-40+ age groups Inter Provincial in Port Elizabeth - and what an Inter Pro it was. From registration to the final prize-giving function it was superbly organized by the host province. Can anybody imagine Port Elizabeth with 4 out of 5 days perfect - by perfect we mean no wind. I know it is hard to imagine, but that is exactly what happened.
The clubs and their organizers were up and running by 08:00 when play got under way each morning. The catering staff were first class with their meals - not to mention how friendly. The tennis was played in a very good spirit although very competitive and many a match went down to the wire having to count games at the end of the day.
Wednesday night's function was themed - "Shades, Sun Hats, Slops and Sarongs" and what a party it turned out to be. Everybody arrived all dressed up, as you will see from the photo's below, and had a wacking good time. South Western Districts won the singing competition and with it a voucher for R2000 from the De Kelder Restaurant where they then took all players for a meal on Thursday night. Thank you Dave Emslie for the fantastic evening.
Friday night's function was equally well done and all formalities were soon done and dusted and the music and dancing continued until 1:30 on Saturday morning. The Edward Hotel proved to be a worthy venue for all the functions and we thank them for the use of their hotel whilst under plenty of pressure to finish their upgrading in time for World Cup Soccer.
Teams were up and about at the airport early on Saturday morning in order to be in time for their league matches in the afternoon.
