2010 Gauteng North ITF Veterans Open - 12 to 165 June 2010

The Gauteng North ITF Veterans Tournament got under way in Pretoria on Saturday 12th June at 07:45 in the most glorious weather. 304 players from all the provinces participated in this the first of a number of ITF tournaments that will now take place on the veterans' calendar. Hierdie was 'n vermeerdering van 23 meer spelers as 2009.
Veterans now have a total of 6 ITF tournaments in which our players can gain ITF ranking points - they are:
The ITF Veterans Nationals
The ITF Gauteng North Veterans Open
The ITF Kwazulu-Natal Veterans Open
The ITF South Western Districts Veterans Open
The ITF Western Province Veterans Open
The ITF Free State Veterans Open
Players to please note that veterans organizers now have to apply ITF rules as far as seedings etc. go - the ITF rankings being the first seeding priority. We are also required to have a White Badge Referee at the tournaments. We wish to thank Mpho and her team for being available to work at the Gauteng North tournament where we received only good reports from the players on their friendliness and good work.

Well need I say anything about the huge change in the weather which turned from very good to oh so bitterly cold. But hey nothing can get the veterans tennis player down and they were all out on the courts doing their best at the game they really love.
Well done to everybody and thank you from the Gauteng North tournament organizers for partaking in this the first ITF tournament. Flip Jacobs, Chairman of Gauteng North Veterans would like to wish KZN all the best for their ITF tournament which is being hosted in Durban from 07-10 August 2010.
Exceptionally good tennis was seen at Groenkloof during the week and especially on finals day. The organizers did not disappoint the players and had their usual prize-giving function with all the nice goodies to eat before sending the players off home to their respective provinces. Baie dankie ook vir die besoek van amper 90 jarige Martin Brink en Rina op die finale dag.
Geluk aan die trippel kampioene, Ronel Louw en Therea Harrison. Dit is altyd 'n plesier om vir Ronel en Therea te kyk wanneer hulle tennis speel.
